Never Forget

This is from the memorial going on every Sunday in Santa Monica known as Arlington West. It’s a reminder of the high cost of war.

Much love and respect to all those who serve and their families.

xoxo

Louisville Slugger

I went to Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory while I was in Kentucky. It was amazing to see how their legendary bats are made. The whole place smelled like my high school woodshop class… memories ;-)

The best part was seeing the room of archived bat prototypes they had. The history was incredible. I got to hold Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson’s bats.

I also saw the machine that makes all the Major League bats with the players’ personalized specifications……. Buster Posey and Cody Ross’s bats were in the system to be made next! Love my Giants!

The photos below are of a pile of bats that had just been branded with the logo and one of me signing some of the pink bats for Breast Cancer charity.

Much love,
xoxoMarisa

Kentucky Derby

I had an amazing weekend in Louisville, Kentucky for the Derby. The Barnstable Brown family hosted an incredible Gala on Friday night with proceeds from tickets benefiting diabetes research for the Barnstable Brown Kentucky Diabetes & Obesity Center at the University of Kentucky. Boys II Men performed and the best moment of the evening was seeing the table of NFL players singing ‘End of the Road’ at the top of their lungs. They do have a sensitive side, haha!

The race on Saturday was amazing. I love this event because of the history, culture and tradition. I rarely wear hats and it’s fun to have a reason to dress up and try something different. I wore a dress by Roland Mouret and a custom-made hat by Louise Green.

I bet on a horse called Pant on Fire, who was ridden by Rosie Napravnik. No woman has ever won the Kentucky Derby so I had to support. They didn’t win but it was still amazing to watch.

Thank you so much to everyone who followed me on twitter this weekend! I’m still getting the hang of it, but appreciate the warm welcome and sweet messages!

Much love,
xoxoMarisa
