Young Survival Coalition

I co-hosted a 1920′s themed charity gala for the Young Survival Coalition on Thursday night in New York. This is an amazing organization that supports women who are diagnosed with breast cancer under 40. They do incredible work and I really wanted to get involved because I couldn’t believe how little awareness and information is out there and that women under 40, can and do get breast cancer. It is often times more agressive when developed at a younger age and we know that with treating cancer, early detection is key.

I met some amazing women last night who are survivors and shared with me their stories. They all said the YSC really helped them make sure they weren’t going through it alone.

Girls, do your self exams once a month and listen to your body. If you feel like something is wrong, go get it checked out. Get a second opinion if your doctor isn’t receptive to your health concerns. Unfortunately, I heard from women in their 20′s and 30′s say their doctors brushed concerns off because of their age.

Go to Youngsurvival.org for more info!

Thank you for your support on my Facebook page. I love reading your comments there and here on the blog ;)

Much love,
Xoxo

P.S- Don’t worry, I didn’t cut my hair ;) It was fun for the night though!

Tom Munro

Working with Tom Munro, for the Harley campaign, was an awesome experience. He is very talented as well as a great person to be around. Check out his book – he’s got some great portraits of some of Hollywood’s best actors and actresses.

Start Something

I’m really excited about this new campaign! It was so much fun to shoot and I hope you like it as much as I do. It was shot at 4 Aces in Palmdale, California by Tom Munro. We shot a lot of great photos and I got to do some riding shots as well. I even brought my dad along and we got to ride together for some of the video. I hope this encourages some of you out there who may be thinking of learning how to ride. I took the Rider’s Edge course and it was really fun and took a lot of the fear away. We even have video of me taking the course, which you will probably see soon.

Foreigner

I went and saw Foreigner play in Hollywood last night. I love hearing some good ’80s rock ;) I saw them in Vegas a couple years ago and Jason Bonham, son of legendary drummer John Bonham, was the drummer. Being a huge Zeppelin fan, it was exciting see him on stage and playing a few licks from his dad’s band.

I’d love to see Journey or Heart someday too. Any ’80s rock fans out there??

XOXO Marisa

The Kentucky Derby

I had such an amazing time this weekend at the Kentucky Derby. Friday night, I attended the Barnstable-Brown Gala and went to the Derby on Saturday. It was cool to go to an event that you had to dress up for. I had fun wearing red lips to the Gala and was a little nervous about wearing a big hat to the Derby- but I actually liked it in the end, because when do you ever have a reason to get so dressed up? I met some amazing people and really loved attending an event that had so much history and couture. I don’t like gambling at all but I decided to give it a go and I actually won on two of the races! I bet on Icebox to win the big race and he came in 2nd- that would have been 3 wins!

I watched the Mayweather/Mosley fight later that night. Floyd is pretty amazing. I think he might be unbeatable. Does anybody think Pacquiao can beat Floyd??

Much love,
xoxo
