I had a great time attending the first-ever Call of Duty XP event in LA. There were over 6,000 people in attendance and lines a mile long to play Modern Warfare 3 before it officially released. There were a lot of interactive setups as well, including paint ball, zip-lining and the Jeep experience.
At the end of the Jeep experience, you “secure” a building. It was intense! After being driven through a crazy dirt course, you are rushed out of the Jeep by Navy SEALs while “bad guys” are shooting at you. They are blanks (obviously) but it’s still loud and scary. Then you are given directions by a Navy SEAL to follow him and about 7 others into a dark building. It’s like a super crazy haunted house, at least for me. Bad guys are shooting at you out of every dark corner. I didn’t help much to secure anything, I just grabbed on to one of the SEALs’ vest and screamed the whole time, while they took out the bad guys. It was so loud I couldn’t hear myself scream. Which I guess made it less embarrassing that no one else could hear me either.
The best part about the whole event was around 500 active service members were there. Call of Duty has an endowment for the military. 100% of ticket sales went to the Call of Duty Endowment to help service members integrate back into civilian life after being overseas.
Here’s some photos from the event as well as a video with Nick Swardson!
Much love,
